What is the Mono Flat 2020 recipe?
Mono Flat 2020 is my creative recipe for Canon Digital Photo Professional 4 RAW image processing, viewing, and editing software. It allows you to achieve a professional-grade monochrome photo style with just a single action.
How does it work?
After applying the Mono Flat 2020 recipe, your photo will be converted to monochrome with medium contrast and a reduced tonal range. High black and low white points values produce a flat look with reduced details, giving a special mood to your image.
Don't worry about the settings you have applied to your RAW image before. The recipe only changes the Picture Style to Monochrome and adjusts image tone curve.
So, you can achieve a professional-grade monochrome photo style and keep same style for batch of photos with no need to leave Canon Digital Photo Professional.
I would like to recommend using the Mono Flat 2020 recipe with all types of photos, including street photos, daily snapshots, landscapes, portraits, and anything that requires a monochrome flat look.
Tips for better results
- Underexpose your photo or make brightness adjustments to minus;
- Switch off Auto Lighting Optimizer;
- Try different filter effects to affect the contrast of original colors and get different looks after applying the recipe;
- Use tone curve adjustment output level to set black and white points values to your preferences after applying the recipe.
Do you prefer toned images?
Especially for those photographers who prefer to tone monochrome images, I've created four variations of the Mono Flat 2020 recipe. Those variations are based on the standard toning effects that are available in the Canon Digital Photo Professional 4: sepia, blue, purple and green.
